It’s difficult to determine what ailment you have based on the information that you have provided. Frequent urination is actually a symptom rather than a medical condition in itself. There are many reasons why someone may suffer from frequent urination, so it would be better if you consulted a doctor to find out what the underlying problem is. Often, frequent urination is associated with diabetes, enlarged prostate, cystitis (inflammation of the bladder) and urinary tract infection. You cannot find a solution if you don’t know the problem.

Natural Remedies

If you’ve had this issue only recently or if it’s an occasional problem, there is a possibility that have you have contracted a urinary infection of some kind. However, in such cases there would usually be some other symptoms too, like a burning sensation and inability to urinate. If you get diagnosed with UTI, having one glass of cranberry everyday will be beneficial for you. Cranberry juice is known to inhibit the growth of bacteria to a great extent. Also, drink plenty of water and increase your intake of yogurt in your daily diet. Make sure the yogurt is fresh and unflavored. Kidney infection is also a reason for frequent urination. You can take one teaspoon of the juice of basil leaves mixed with honey every morning to treat a kidney infection. However, a kidney infection is a serious problem, and cannot be treated using home remedies alone.

Whatever ailment you are diagnosed with, to decrease the number of times you urinate at night, have more water during the day and reduce the intake towards the evening, especially before going to bed. Also, you will be able to control the problem if you follow an exercise regime, and increase your intake of fibrous foods. Avoid the consumption of saturated fats and such unhealthy foods. Even if you can manage to take a walk for about 30 minutes a day, it will help you. You must also avoid caffeine, nicotine, sodas, and alcohol, as these have diuretic properties and irritate the bladder, causing frequent urination. It would also be beneficial if you controlled your bladder and reduced the urge of urination. There’s a simple exercise, called Kegel’s exercise that you can do for the same. This exercise involves first contracting your pelvic floor muscle for 5 seconds and then relaxing it for 5 seconds. Do rounds of 10 repetitions, and repeat this thrice a day. This exercise strengthens the pelvic floor muscles and reduces the episodes of urination. However, this exercise will only help you to control the urge to urinate; it will not treat your underlying ailment.
