Yoga For Menopause

I think menopause can be a time of greater wisdom and deeper insight for all women. Since it's a natural life transition, you should embrace and celebrate it, rather than be intimidated by it. However, in my opinion Western women often enter menopause feeling very uncomfortable.
Then again, I've noticed that women who practice Yoga have a different, more positive outlook towards life. This is because not only do Yoga asanas and breathing practices balance the endocrine system, they also serve to stabilize your mood and adjust your attitude, as well.
Other women friends of mine, having discovered this, also enjoy their new freedom, power, and energy. I feel it's every woman's birthright to discover the benefits of Yoga in midlife.
During menopause, women who practice Yoga find they are more open to exploring life. They feel an inner peace and a feeling of unity with society at large, as a result of their practices.
Methinks, the regular practice of Yoga tremendously helps alleviate all negative symptoms of menopause. It also reduces the incidence and intensity of hot flashes and night sweats.
Based on my experiences and that of my friends, I'm putting forward this basic guide I believe will be helpful to all women.
- Hand to Foot Pose - Uttanasana
- Downward Facing Dog Pose - Adho Mukha Svanasana
- Supported Legs-Up-the-Wall Pose
- Supported Bridge Pose - Sethu Bandhasana
- Supported Child's pose ' Balasana
- Sage Marichi Twist Pose - Marichyasana
- Half Lord of the Fish Pose - Ardha Matsyendrasna
- Corpse Pose - Shavasana (Also called Deep Relaxation Pose)
