Tea tree oil, also known as Melaleuca oil, is a type of an essential oil, which is obtained by the distillation (steam) of the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia, an Australian plant. Tea tree oil has several uses.
Its leaves can be used for healing cuts, infections and burns on your skin. Some of the constituents present in tea tree oil have antifungal and antiseptic properties.
Therefore, it is not only used in many skin care products like - ointments, creams, lotions, soaps and shampoos, but it also helps in reducing various other problems like dandruff, lice, acne, boils, eczema, psoriasis and other types of infections. Therefore tea tree oil products (or melaleuca products) are often used in many skincare and hair care treatments. However, In case you decide to use pure tea tree oil, do remember that it needs to be diluted before being used, or it could cause irritation.

Another oil that is an ideal product for skincare and hair care remedies is Jojoba oil. It is a colorless, odorless and inexpensive oil, that is easy to find. Another substance that can be used for skincare is grapefruit seed extract (GSE). Grapefruit seed extract products have been used across the globe to improve the health of people, animals and plants. Products that contain grapefruit seed extracts include cosmetics and food that benefit your skin. Grapefruit extract is not toxic; it is known to be safe and biodegradable too. The use of products with grapefruit seed extracts does not usually lead to any side affects.
