The color of teeth of my 4 year old son has been discolored to little gray or brown lines, any home remedy for this ?

A full smile that shows a set of flawless, pearly white teeth can be the most defining part of a person’s appearance and is a feature that everyone craves for. While it is very common for adults to experience significant discoloration of their teeth as a result of habits such as smoking or the excessive consumption of alcohol and caffeine, these are unlikely to be the causes of its occurrence in toddlers. The color of an individual’s teeth can also have a significant psychological impact on the child’s state of mind, as it can cause a substantial reduction in his or her morale and self esteem. There are a number of factors that can influence the coloration of a child’s set of teeth. For example, proper cleaning habits is probably the most commonly encountered cause, while eating certain types of foods or early tooth decay, or a recent traumatic injury could also be blamed for the occurrence. Very commonly, tooth discoloration is also accompanied by bad breath, sticky tar deposits and an inflammation of the roof of the mouth. The retention of the natural white color of the teeth requires a lot of precautionary measures to be followed, but can be extremely worthwhile.

Home Remedies

Considering that the condition is very common, you will see a number of products in medical stores almost anywhere in the world that promise to get your teeth looking naturally white. However, there is no guarantee that any of these will work as a lot of it depends on the causing factor of the condition. A number of home remedies work more effectively as a result of their natural ingredients. A lot of fruits contain natural bleaching properties that help remove the discoloration from the teeth. For example, increasing your child’s daily intake of strawberry’s, oranges and lemons is likely to have very beneficial results. Vegetables like cucumbers, carrots, sweet potatoes and broccoli also have a bleaching effect on the teeth. You should also make sure that your son flosses his teeth after brushing them in order to remove any stuck food particles that would also cause teeth discoloration. Chewing sugarless gum just after a meal is also known to prevent discoloration of the teeth. Baking soda is known to be a good whitening agent and using it as toothpaste with a few drops of lime juice and salt on a daily basis will significantly whiten your teeth. You should also make sure that your son drinks enough of water as, although its fluoride content is essential for the human body, an overload can turn the teeth grey.
