Yoga Postures For Bowed Legs

Pain free yoga postures for bowed legs

We don’t know of any singly yoga pose which can help by itself. Then again, a therapeutic asana (Yoga pose) protocol, together with dietary and lifestyle changes, pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation, over a span of some years, are known to reverse bow legs. We would recommend asanas (Yoga poses) such as Virabhadrasana (Warrior II Pose) and Parsvottanasana (Intense Side Stretch Pose) and Gomukhasana (Cow Face Pose). These are best done under the guidance of a qualified and experienced yoga therapist. Be patient, it does take a little time.

Some Yoga experts had noticed, a few decades ago, that quite a few people could achieve proper body alignment by doing the poses correctly. Their improper alignment, they discovered was not only the result of lack of proper training, but also the result of the physical limitations of their bodies. For example, they noticed that a person with tight hamstrings could compensate for this by keeping his or her knees bent in some of the standing forward bending poses. Likewise, a person with bow legs might not be lying properly in Shavasana (Corpse Pose), or could have trouble balancing because of the misalignment of his or her legs.

Many of them found that by the use of certain props in doing Yoga poses, all of them could achieve the same benefits and restore themselves back to normal, regardless of their physical limitations. After prolonged use of props, they found that people could even train their muscles to remain where they were supposed to be. In so doing, they helped cure many misalignments in students.

However, it is very important to choose the right quality props. This would be the first step in healing oneself, because if you use cheaply designed props you will be doing yourself more harm than good. Remember, all props are not made the same, just like all people are not. You can use Yoga Straps in many different ways in several different poses. This will act as a connection from hand to hand, or from hand to foot for those who are not flexible enough. Yoga straps can also be used very effectively to bind areas, such as the legs, together. So, for people with bow legs, in some Yoga poses you may have to stand with both legs together. You can easily achieve this by using a Yoga Strap to bind your legs together.

This way, over time, with the use of appropriate Yoga props and under expert guidance you will most certainly be able to straighten out bow legs.
