How to reduce under eye puffiness?

Under Eye puffiness can be a matter of concern especially in women who are beauty conscious. Suddenly their eyes tend to lose the glow and brightness and may look gloomy and tired.

Eye puffiness is a form of edema that occurs due to fluid retention. There are reasons for the development of the under eye puffiness. Sometimes the development of eye puffiness may not be under our control. As we age the cells that are present near the eyes tend to degenerate. These cells are delicate and degeneration of the cells tend to break down the wall covering the cells. This can result in retention of the unnecessary water within the cells. This problem is severe beyond the age of 40. This condition is also commonly called as sacks or bags. The other reasons for eye puffiness are oversleeping or sleep deprivation, fluid retention of the body during pregnancy, illness, intake of excessive salt, alcohol, skin disorder like dermatitis and allergies. It is very necessary to consult a physician regarding this problem.

Reduce the carbohydrate intake or avoid its intake totally as carbohydrates tend to aggravate the puffiness of the eyes. Consume ample amount of water which can remove any toxins that can affect the eyes. Apart from this, water helps to maintain healthy and glowing eyes. Have a balanced diet that contains all the nutrients in proper amount. Avoid preserved or processed foods that contain additives and preservatives. Avoid high intake of salt like use of added salt in the food. Have essential fats which contain the essential fatty acids like omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. These are present in leafy vegetables, soybeans, safflower, and walnut. Consume foods that are rich in Vitamin A and C as these are antioxidants that can scavenge the free radicals that may be formed due to aging. Chew your food well as improper digestion can also lead to fluid retention.

An eye massage can help to stimulate the eye muscles. Press lightly near the bone of the eye socket with the ring finger. Rotate your finger in a circular motion till the area below the brow. Now move the finger downwards to the bone of the eye socket in a circular motion. A sliced cucumber can function as a natural astringent and can provide short term relief from eye puffiness.

Thus regular care of the eyes, pampering of the eyes can help in reducing eye puffiness.
