The prostrate is basically a small gland that is usually the size and shape of a typical walnut and is found at the base of the penis. The prostrate tends to sit directly below the bladder and in front of the rectum and is known to play a very important part in the male reproductive system. The prostrate is that part of the male reproductive system that is responsible to help transport the sperm via the urethra during the male sexual climax. An enlarged prostate is known to be observed in some men, which may result in painful urination. The use of yoga for enlarged prostate problems can offer some relief.
The other symptoms of an enlarged prostate in men are difficulty in starting to urinate, a feeling that even after urinating the bladder has not been emptied or continuing to dribble after urination. An enlarged prostate needs to be treated at the earliest as if the bladder does not empty itself completely one may suffer from potentially serious complications and this urine back up may even resulting the malfunctioning of the kidneys. The use of yoga for enlarged prostate problems can help control the problem and avert any complications that could develop. Yoga , especially hatha yoga is known to be a highly effective yoga for enlarged prostate or yoga for prostrate problems as this form of yoga involves stretching, deep breathing , meditation and strengthening exercises which help in many BPH patients feeling better over time. The yoga exercises for bph are known to improve the circulation of lymph and blood throughout different parts of the body and can thus aid in stimulating the release of the feel good hormone which is known as endorphins. Both prostate cancer and enlarged prostate problems can be handled effectively via the right techniques of yoga. The first step towards this is to meditate to preserve glandular health and also to de-stress. This is essential because stress tends to adversely affect the hypothalamus which in turn controls the pituary that performs the function of regulating the function of all the glands in the body of the individual. Additionally the various yoga asanas tend to energize and exercise the prostrate and hence must be practiced regularly. The most effective pose in yoga for enlarged prostate problems or in yoga for prostate cancer is the Vajaroli, wherein one is required to sit in a meditative pose and retain one’s breath. While doing so one needs to contract the urethra and hold these muscles for a short time. One should then exhale and release the contraction. This yoga asana should be practiced at least 30 times daily to successfully tackle prostrate problems without medication such as flomax. The benefits of yoga are not just restricted to the physical poses, but the benefits of yoga for prostate problems stem from all areas of the discipline.

An
enlarged prostate gland is also referred to as
BHP that is
benign prostate hyperplasia. It is only present in men and is a common problem in ageing men. It could occur due to several reasons such as the hereditary factors, hormonal imbalance, excess growth of cells, deficiency of minerals, testosterone deficiency, obesity, etc. The prostate gland is situated in the front under the bladder and is wrapped around the urethra that is the tube from which the urine and semen pass out from the body. The prostate gland enlarges as the cells multiply and that puts pressure on the urethra and gradually narrows it. The extra pressure on the bladder makes it more sensitive and forces the urine into the urethra. This is the reason you feel the urge to empty your bladder more often. You need to visit your doctor and inform him about the same, as proper medical attention is required in your case. Pay attention to what you eat as the foods that you consume have a direct impact on your body. Avoid consuming tea, coffee, caffeinated beverages, soda, chocolates and spices. You can safely have fresh fruits and vegetables and fresh juices.
- Baddha konasana:Restrained Angle Pose:Cobbler Pose – This asana or posture is excellent for men suffering from enlarged prostate gland as this helps to open up the hips as well as the groin area. It helps to promote healthy function of the kidneys, bladder, prostate gland and abdomen. It also helps to stretch and tone the muscles of your hips, buttocks and thighs. Sit down on the floor with your legs straight in front of you. Keep the palms of your hands next to you pressed gently on the floor. Slowly fold your legs inward towards you bending at the knees until your feet touch each other. In the beginning it will probably feel very difficult but with regular practice your knees will touch the floor when you do this. Hold your feet with your hands and try and get the soles of your feet as close to your groin area as you can manage. Hold this pose for a while breathing out slowly as you bend forward while holding your feet.
- Supta Baddha Konasana:Reclining Angle Pose – This is similar to the above-mentioned pose but the only difference is that you do it lying down on the floor instead of sitting.
