Yoga Poses For Body Pain

Yoga is an ancient therapy that concentrates on the healing of the body and mind. This discipline originated in India around 5000 years ago. Body pain can be quite uncomfortable for day-to-day activities. To help relieve this, yoga can be a good option instead of taking some form of painkillers.

A simple pose you could begin with is the cat pose or Bidalasana. Place all your four limbs on the floor while kneeling down. Make your back horizontal and flat and look down at the floor. As you inhale, form an arch with your back and as you exhale, sag your shoulders in and come back to the original extension. If you have any difficulty doing this exercise, you should place a mat under your knees so that there is no pain. This pose aligns the body from the centre and keeps all your energies in balance. Thus, any overall body pain would be corrected by performing this exercise at least 10 to 15 times.

Another pose you could try is the Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana or the crescent moon pose. This pose is fairly easy to do as well. Kneel and keep your back straight. Step forward with one foot until it is parallel to the ground and extend the other foot slightly. Raise both your arms upwards. As you become more flexible, try stretching the front leg and bending the back leg more. This pose strengthens your legs, back, and arms, building stamina. It helps relieve any tensions in these areas, thus reducing any muscle or joint pain you might have.

The bow pose or Dhanurasana is a fairly important yoga pose to know. For this pose, lie down on your stomach. Bend your knees and bring your heels near your back. Reach back with your arms and grasp your ankles with your hands. Try breathing normally with this pose. It will open up your chest and help you take in fuller breaths. A full breath will deliver more oxygen to different body cells making them healthier and able to fight off any pain.

Lastly, you could end with the hero pose or Virasana. It is a basic seated posture which is meant to help your whole body relax. Kneel down on the floor, but this time with your feet facing outwards. Rest your body on your buttocks and not your legs. Keep your back straight. This pose loosens various body parts and does not allow any tightness in the muscles or joints.
