Asthma is common respiratory disorder that affects millions of people around the world. It is a chronic condition in which there is a shortness o breath that occurs quite frequently, most often triggered by certain foods or seasonal allergies.   • Breath exercises or pranayama like the Loud Breathing or Ujjayi, the Right-Nostril Breathing or Surya bheda, the Alternate Nostril Breathing or Anuloma Viloma and the Cleaning Breath or Kapalabhati breath can help regulate breathing and strengthen the lungs.
  • Yoga asanas or poses such as the Hands to Feet Pose or Pada Hastasana and the Sun Salutation Poses or Surya Namaskar can help to improve and enhance the capacity of the lungs. These exercises also help to tone the muscle and bring about an increase in strength and stamina.

It would be a good idea to look out for yoga classes or studios in your area that offer specialized classes for asthmatic children. You can also consult with yoga instructors and your doctor to get more advice on the subject.
