Hair Massage Oils – Sesame

Can I use sesame oil for hair massage that comes from grocery store for cooking purpose?

Most naturally occurring oils can be used in their original form for massaging the scalp. Popular oils include olive, sesame and coconut oil. All these oils can be used to massage into the head and have proven to be very useful over the centuries, as natural remedies to various scalp conditions. These could also be used to generally improve the texture and health of the hair and scalp.

The same oil that is available at your grocery store can be used on your scalp. However, avoid using oil that has been used or is stale and has been lying unused for a long period of time.

Benefits Of Hair Massage Oils

Massaging oil into the scalp has several beneficial effects. Primarily, it helps to improve the texture and physical condition of the scalp by reducing dryness and tightness. Conditions such as an itchy scalp or dandruff due to infection can be cured using oil massage. Sesame oil is particularly noted for its antibacterial properties. When you regularly use oil to massage your scalp, be sure to wash this oil off after a period of about 30 minutes. Oil left on the hair will attract dust, it may lead to hair clumping together and it will clog the pores in the scalp that naturally secrete oils to keep the scalp hydrated.

Another way of applying sesame oil is to massage it into the scalp before sleeping and to wash it off first thing in the morning. This will help the oil to effectively penetrate your scalp and provide a long lasting respite from dry scalp conditions. Over a period of time of using oil to massage the scalp, you will notice an improvement in the health of your hair.

It is important to note that just using oils to massage into your scalp may not cure you of scalp dryness. Dryness is often caused by a lack of hydrating foods and liquids in your diet. If you do not drink enough water in a day you may suffer from dry skin conditions as well as dry scalp conditions. Fresh fruits and vegetables should be consumed on a daily basis as these improve your overall health as well as provide your skin with vital nutrients, vitamins and hydration.

Further, when bathing, avoid using excessively hot water on the scalp. This tends to scald the skin as well as wash away vital oils that are used to hydrate the scalp.
