Practice of Sivananda Yoga

Sivananda Yoga is one of the world's latest and now one of the largest Yoga schools in the world. It is a program of Yoga that is extremely compassionate and encouraging to al, in particular to beginners of Yoga.

The style was developed by Swami Vishnu-Devananda. He named it after his teacher, Swami Sivananda; Sivananda Yoga follows a set makeup of Yoga poses and breathing exercises.

The arrangement includes pranayama, classic asanas, in addition to the philosophy of Yoga diet relaxation and positive thinking. The Complete Illustrated Book of Yoga (CIBY) was written by Swami Vishnu-Devananda. It was first published in 1960 and was one of the first books on Yoga. It still continues to be one of the bestsellers on Yoga available on the stands and in bookstores.

The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers are part of the True World Order established by Swami Vishnu-Devananda. His mission was to spread the teachings of his Guru Swami Sivananda, all over the world.

On the directive of his Guru, Swami Sivananda, Swami Vishnu-Devananda proceeded to the West. There he started to travel and teach all over the United States since 1957.

He in 1959 set up his 1st Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center. That was in Montreal, Canada.

Today, there are around 80 Sivananda locations. That includes ashramas, yoga centers, and affiliated centers. Best part is that they are spread all over the globe. The True World Order (TWO) has trained over 11,000 yoga teachers in the past 3 decades of its existence. The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers are much admired all over the world for imparting knowledge of Yoga genuinely, accurately and realistically, as well as for preserving its tradition of purity that, as a matter of fact, dates back several thousand years.
