What Is Mantra Meditation?
Mantra Meditation is the yoga meditation technique of using sounds to open up your mind and heart. This is popularly called Bhakti Yoga or the Meditation of Devotion, a deeply spiritual and sacred practice for many.
However you do not have to be "religious" to experience the gifts of Mantra Meditation. Mantras (Sanskrit incantations) can be whichever you choose.

Techniques of Mantra Meditation
A Mantra is a set of words repeated over and over - sometimes hundreds of times - till it becomes part of your consciousness. It is said to free the mind from its constant sense of doing, and elevates the practitioner to an altered state of awareness. It is a state in which he or she can connect with his / her soul at the most profound level, thereby achieving a state of universal consciousness.
Benefits of Mantra Meditation
By and large the altered state of awareness - normally, higher that mantra meditation bestows upon the practitioner is a state in which his / her mind is extremely relaxed and concentrated.

Traditional therapies like diuretics, calcium channel blockers and ACE inhibitors are known to lead to an increase in blood cholesterol, impotence, fatigue, dry mouth, nose congestion, diarrhea, nausea, headaches, and dizziness. Nothing like that has ever been reported as a result of mantra meditation.
