Yoga For Well-Being

There is no better alternative to practicing yoga, but with one difference. You’ve mentioned doing yoga five times a week. First and foremost, it would help you to understand that yoga is not done but practiced. The difference is not grammatical but lies in its use. From what we’re given to understand you’re looking at yoga as a workout program or regimen. This again is not your fault, given the coloring rendered to yoga these days. But, in actual matter of fact, yoga is a lot more than just a physical fitness regimen.

Yoga is a few thousand year old science and art of living, a holistic therapeutic program designed to deliver optimum physical, mental and emotional benefits. This it achieves through a set of techniques called asanas (exercises and poses), pranayamas (breathing exercises), Kriyas (cleansing techniques), lots of relaxation and a little meditation. But yoga, if rightly understood is to be practiced for more than just an hour or two, a couple times a week. For optimum benefits of good physical, mental and emotional health and well-being yoga is best taken up as a way of life.

The Four Pillars Of Yoga Are As Follows:

  • Achar (Behavior Or Lifestyle)
  • Vichar (Thought Patterns)
  • Ahar (Diet)
  • Vihar (Recreation)

To this extent yoga prescribes day long techniques of positive thinking, positive assertions, yogic relaxation from time to time during work, a yogic diet and certain abstinences. These, though, seemingly difficult consist, for the most part in avoiding the use of tobacco, intoxicating substances and junk foods. Making reasonable provisions for human weaknesses and the fact that from time to time we all tend to succumb to our lower instincts, yoga endeavors to pick us up and set us on the right path. And, if we follow this path diligently, after a while there is no erring.

No other workout program or regimen can compare with or even come anywhere close to what yoga has to offer in terms of optimum physical, mental and emotional benefits. In fact the benefits of other workout programs and regimens cease to exist some time after you stop practicing. However, this doesn’t happen with yoga. Once you’ve started the practices and continue with diligence and devotion, there’s just no looking back. We suggest you read more about the overall benefits of yoga and find a qualified, experienced teacher who can teach you more than just physical yoga and you need look no further for excellent health.
