What you are experiencing is indeed an impacted wisdom tooth. This means that your wisdom tooth is growing into the surrounding structures of your jaw and mouth. These structures could be your gums, other teeth, or your jaw bone. The only treatment for this condition is to extract the tooth. Extracting the tooth will not only relieve you of the pain, but will also spare you other complications and infections related to the tooth.

Wisdom teeth, in official dental circles are called the third molar. These are extra teeth in the jaw and because of their presence is usually a nuisance rather than a reflection of wisdom. In a more biological sense, the wisdom teeth are like one’s appendix – a vestigial element that exists within our bodies and were useful at one point in human evolution but not any more. The theory is that wisdom teeth were actually proper teeth in our jaws when our diets were leafier and vegetable based. As time passed and the early human diet changed, so did the structure of the human jaw and the third molar moved out of the jaw set to below the existing set. Wisdom teeth can grow in directing towards the mouth, vertically upward or, in the rarest case, horizontally into the root of another tooth.

The only home remedy that is effective for dealing with tooth pain is cloves. This can be used in direct application of powdered cloves or by swilling clove oil in the affected area. This should be able to provide you with some relief, but it would surly not have a long lasting effect. The other effective anesthetic that should really consider is alcohol. While this may not be categorized as an anesthetic because it doesn’t really take away the pain, the dullness and stupor that it provides is a good distraction from the pain until you see a dentist. Whisky would be ideal for this. Take a swig of whisky and leave it in your mouth for a minute before swallowing it. As unpleasant as this might be, the benefits of it will manifest in a matter of minutes, especially on an empty stomach. You must also not have food that requires any chewing as this will continuously aggravate the situation. From regular medicine, any painkiller would also serve the purpose but you would have to consume a lot of these that can cause acidity.
