How One Can Control Hunger And Live With The Help Of Yoga
An increased appetite and stress has lot to do with what we eat. Stress can cause a list of biochemical changes in your body and brain and brain chemistry has a lot to do with appetite control. For example a brain chemical, dopamine is linked with increased appetite and depression.
Carbohydrate cravings can be caused due to low levels of serotonin in the body. Also low levels of nor-epinephrine are linked with increased appetite (which in normal conditions helps the brain to remain more alert and positive). This type of tide against stress can be turned down by performing Kundalini yoga on regular basis. Staying hungry for long hours or living without food is not recommended especially if you aim to lose weight. However Kundalini yoga can help to deal with stress and thus keep your body and appetite in control. Thus you will not end up binging and thus can maintain a healthy weight and body.
Kundalini yoga is basically a meditative and physical discipline that comprises of a set of techniques which uses mind, body and senses to create good communication between body and mind. The main aim of Kundalini yoga is to boost your psycho-spiritual growth with special considerations to spine and endocrine system. Kundalini is a concentrated form of life or prana that is believed to lie dormant in the body in the form of chakras. Breathing and concentration practices that dhyana and pranayama will also help to deal with increased appetite and control your hunger by making you relaxed and decrease your stress levels. The practice of Kundalini yoga itself will involve meditation and concentration practices along with different body postures, cultivation of character, utterances and expressive movements.
I personally will not recommend you to live without food or stay hungry (by decreasing your appetite) for long hours in a day, few days is out of question. Practice yoga daily or 3 to 4 times in a week to remain fit but not with an aim to remain without food. Your body will go into starvation mode if you don’t provide it with adequate food and energy. Also the metabolic rate will tend to decrease if your body switches in starvation mode. A decreased metabolic rate is the last thing you want to happen when you are thinking of staying hungry or starving. So eat a balanced diet and increase your physical activity in the form of yoga or any other exercise to remain fit.
