Best Yoga Postures For Stomach Muscle And Body

Yoga postures will help you not only tighten up your stomach muscles, but they will strengthen your body, increase your energy levels and prevent back pain and joint injuries. Here are some yoga postures and Kriyas that you can do to firm your tummy.
Bhujangasana (Cobra pose): A posture that makes your body looks like a cobra, Bhujangasana or the cobra pose tightens up your tummy, opens up your chest, rejuvenates your nervous system, massages the kidneys and straightens your spine.
Upward Facing Dog Posture: A good position for firming the stomach region, in this position you have to lift your body and balance the entire weight on the tip of your hands and feet.
Paschimottanasana (Westward Facing Forward Bend): Here is another posture to flatten your tummy and burn the excess fat. This pose puts a certain pressure on the abs and stretches the leg, thigh and hip. A posture that is said to calm the mind and de-stress a person, this posture prevents spinal problems, increases the efficiency of the digestive system and prevents certain diseases.
Halasana (Plough pose): This posture stretches the muscles of the body, helping to tone up. Halasana is good for toning up the sagging abdominal skin, stimulating the thymus gland and massaging the pancreas and thyroid.

- Tadasana (Mountain Tilt)
- Trikonasana (Triangle pose)
- Mayurasana (Peacock pose)
- Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation)
- Kakasana (Crow pose)
- Padhastasna (Standing forward bend)

Apart from doing yoga asanas to tighten up the tummy, you could also do certain cleansing kriyas and breathing techniques to clean the colon as this is the first step to toning up the abdominal area. Here are a couple of kriyas that are said to help cleanse the abdominal area:
- Vaman dhauti (Regurgitative cleansing): Do this kriya daily for a month.
- Shanka Prakshalana (Conch cleansing process): you can do this once in a week for a month.
Breathing techniques to aid the cleansing and toning up of the abdominal region:
- Suryabhedana (Right nostril breathing)
- Anuloma-Viloma (Alternate nostril breathing)
- Kapalabhati (Cleaning breath)
- Bhastrika (Bellows)
