Kundalini Shakti (energy) is a latent, coiled up, cosmic power underlying all organic and inorganic matter within all beings. The practical techniques of Kundalini Yoga are designed to awaken this great primal force lying dormant in all beings. Kundalini Yoga works at awakening, by arousing Kundalini Shakti (energy) and sending it spiraling through the six centers of spiritual energy (Shat Chakras), until its final union with the Sahasrara (Crown) Chakra at the top of the head. This is a very precise and intricate science, also known as Laya Yoga.
The lower processes of Hatha Yoga seek to accomplish this by developing a perfect physical body which will, someday, be fit enough to let the energy traverse the central Nadi (column) and reach the Sahasrara (Crown) Chakra. The Hatha Yoga practitioner who seeks to attain liberation does so through the practice of Kundalini Yoga that is said to bestow both joy and emancipation. He is said to experience a special kind of bliss and attains special powers at every stage to which he manages to raise his Kundalini Shakti (energy).
Hatha Yoga Techniques for Awakening Kundalini
The Hatha Yoga practitioner approaches Kundalini Yoga through a series of asanas (Yoga poses), pranayamas (breathing exercises), kriyas (cleansing techniques) a Yogic Diet and meditative practices thus attaining a body that is as healthy, strong and free from affliction of any sort and, therefore, long-lived. Over time, he is said to pass into Pure Consciousness itself. Thus, the Hatha Yoga practitioner becomes master of both life and death.
Through a set of Hatha Yoga practices that help you concentrate on the different Chakras (nerve plexuses), starting at the base of the anus right up the spinal column right up to the Sahasrara (Crown) Chakra, you manage to awaken Kundalini Shakti (energy) and send it spiralling up. The entire process involves piercing the six energy centres of the body by raising and passing the Sahasrara (Crown) Chakra. But, for this, you will have to find a Kundalini Yoga adept who can personally guide you through the practices.
Kundalini Yoga is a very occult and secret science, kept away from the mundane public and made known only to a select few. For this reason, it can only be from one who is highly adept at Yoga, one who is proficient in the arts and has, himself, attained certain spiritual powers, having transcended worldly flaws and weakness. Even today, there are quite a few such experts, but locating them is again a personal and lifelong pursuit.
