Yoga poses for improving memory

Yoga can help you start living your own life with a greater self confidence and capable of doing all the tasks which you feel nervous to perform. Try the following asana to improve your concentration, memory, self-confidence and self-esteem.

  • Vrikasana or tree pose – stand straight on the ground. Now fold the right leg at the knee and place the heel on the inner thigh of the left leg as high as possible with the toes pointing towards the ground. Now place your hands near the sternum (chest bone) in a prayer position keeping the shoulders and neck straight and eyes closed. Remain in this pose for 15 seconds and then in a similar way fold the left leg and remain in that pose for 15 seconds.
  • Bhavana – this should be done preferably in the night before sleeping. For this sit in vajrasana and place the hands on your respective knees. Close your eyes and try to recollect the entire happenings in the whole day. Starting from waking up, brushing your teeth, taking bath, drinking tea, going to work and rest of all which happened in the day. This exercise will help you to increase your concentration by stimulating or encouraging the brain cells to work more. While performing bhavana see to it that you sit in a quite room where you can concentrate well.
  • Shiva dhyan – the word shiva is the name of a lord. When you say the word shiva loudly air is forced out of the body and this is the essence of this asana. Sit on the floor with your legs folded and hands in gyan mudra. Now with lot of happiness take name of the lord shiva loudly moving your neck and body in different directions. When you feel tired lie on the floor in shavasana (do not open your eyes). After you come out of shavasana open your eyes and relax.
